David Brodie
Senior Account Director
David Brodie has worked in communications for the past 11 years, providing counsel to high profile public and private sector clients around the world. From 1998 to 2003, David worked as a senior political advisor to the federal Minister of Finance, and subsequently Canada’s Prime Minister. David was responsible for policy issue management in Western Canada, as well as the operational aspects of leading prime ministerial tours and events. He has planned and executed speaking tours in every province and territory in Canada, as well as throughout Asia, Europe, the U.S., and Mexico.
David’s international experience includes working as a senior consultant with the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo, and serving on the organizing committees for annual meetings of the G-8, APEC and Commonwealth Summits. As a Senior Account Director at Optimum, David specializes in strategic communications planning and crisis communication management, as well as bringing his expertise in public policy and government relations to client projects. His work at Optimum has included providing support to organizations such as the Business Council of British Columbia, the British Foreign Office, the British Columbia Securities Commission and BuildDirect, the world’s leading online wholesaler of building materials.
David also has a wide range of experience planning and executing online advocacy initiatives. He has advised clients on the use of social networking, press release optimization, social media newsrooms, podcasting and blogging as part of large scale communications campaigns. He has an in-depth understanding of new media and is a member of the Cossette Communications
Digital Committee, and the Canadian Public Relations Society.
